BACKGROUND:- Dera Murad Jamali is a city located in Nasirabad District in Balochistan, Pakistan. It is named after the great leader Mir Murad Khan Jamali after he was martyred. Its population is 44,700 among them there lived a woman named Tanveer of age 20. Basically she is pashtoon but her family speaks sindhi. She has 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Her father and mother were both cousins. She spent her childhood at Roojan Jamili a village located in Dera Murad Jamali.
SITUATION BEFORE FLOOD:- She was living in a good house with the facilities of water, gas and electricity along with every necessity of life. She spent 20 years in her native village. She has passed her Secondary School Examination. She is educated compared to other flood victims. After passing Secondary School Examination, she got married to her cousin. She was very happy with her married life.
SITUATION AFTER FLOOD:- She spent one and a half year of her married life in her native village. When she was 9 months pregnant the flood destroyed her village. She was forced to travel from Rojan Jamali to Quetta because of flood and as she was 9 months pregnant it was very difficult for her to travel. The flood water was 5 feet high and people were using boats to travel. After facing much difficulty, her family finally found a mean of transportation and they travelled to Quetta via Truck. They heard from their relatives that there is a free relief camp for flood victims at Balochistan Boys Scout Association Headquarters where they were provided with shelter and were medically treated free of cost. So after hearing about this camp they came to the camp.
PROVISION OF ASSISTANCE:- RAHNUMA Saiban Quetta Region organized a free medical camp for flood victims from 28th August. When Saiban Medical team visited the tents of flood victims they found 13 pregnant women during their survey and among them was Tanveer who was expected of her first baby. With the coordination of vice president of RAHNUMA Saiban Quetta region madam Roshan Khursheed Barocha and councilor FHH Miss Rukhsana Qazi, she came to the free camp, she was pregnant and was regularly examined by the Doctors of RAHNUMA Saiban Quetta region every morning. After spending one week in the camp she felt a severe pain in the uterus so she called Miss Rukhsana that she was dying with pain before the night of delivery at 10 o’clock Miss Rukhsana took her to Saiban hospital the doctors told her that there is still some time in the delivery and they came back to their residing camp on 2 o’clock in the morning. She felt pain again the second night, she was expecting period was completed also. In the camp an “Untrained” lady claimed that she could handle the case. She shut the camp and was preparing for the delivery, there was a lot of suffocation in the camp and therefore her condition was starting to show signs of disdain. The “Untrained” lady also broke the membrane in which the baby was residing inside the camp. Due to this breakage, chances of the mother actually surviving the delivery were fading. One of her relatives informed the medical camp about her critical condition. One point which is very important to be mentioned here that there were many other medical camps near our medical camp at a very short distance but none of these camps helped the expecting lady. According to them this case is very critical and if the lady dies during the case handling, her relatives would hold them responsible. They did not want to take the responsibility. FHH Counselor took the patient in haste on her responsibility to Saiban Familiy Health Hospital Quetta Region. After half an hour later the baby was delivered. The mother was in great pain. The mother and baby were admitted for one day at hospital. After that the Counselor took them and reached back at the camp. She is now in a very good and healthy condition. She was treated for 6 days after the delivery at the medical camp. She is still coming regularly for post natal checkup and baby has also been vaccinated.
COMMENTS FROM MOTHER:- Tanveer was very thankful to FHH Counselor that she volunteered for her even on 1st eid day and took her to hospital and saved her and her baby.
She is very thankful to Saiban Staff. Now she is very happy with her child and her family in her tent and wishes to go back to her home to start a new life.
