My TV show – beyond sexuality education

Pakistani young people and journalist during a discussion

By Sadaf Nasim, IPPF youth volunteer from FPA Pakistan.

Entered office building, look up 6 storied building, app ke dunya (your world)

I stay outside building everyday and have a long glance “app ke dunya” your world , somehow these couple of secs are the best time, it’s so satisfying feelings every morning!

With  Hair strengthened I look far tidy …I look in the lift’s mirror while elevated to the 2nd floor where I had been for one years and 3months I guess, same desk , same neighbors, no or stolen chairs , chair is controversial , precious around  the country I guess!

Aha I am not with swollen eyes and wimpy hair! Thanks to Geo’s team for doing my hair … I am too lazy and too preoccupied to do anything with my hair in the morning

Put my bag beside my machine, again saw a blurred reflection in the blank computer screen and smiled!

20 minute passed and I am dreaming with every opening window I have got loads to do it life … there’s loads of things happening and where do I stand …but I am today happier with myself than usual

A middle aged, fair man with beard, few while hair entered signaled, come inside my office

You had been on Geo’s show yesterday????

Yes sir!

Did I suppose to know that?

Yes sir! You just came

You broke mine and the trust of the company!

(Me but? I)

It had been a great humiliation to me that my employee (merra banda) was on geo what a shame and I am being not informed this is a crime … is ke koi maffi nai (you can’t be forgiven)

When was it recorded?

Yesterday sir !

App ko pata hai app kia bol rahi thein ? (Do you have any idea what were you talking about?) It’s a huge humiliation to you and to me as well

Sir but it’s about

Okay leave

Scene # 02

Sitting in front of inquiry committee

Tu yeah bebe thein ? (Okay is this the girl who was on geo’s show?)

Me: silent

Tu bebe are you planted by Geo?

Me: me???……. Pause (damn you) I am not sir ‘I guess ‘(I had been mad like anything at that time)

Tu kia kia jayee app ka ab? (What should be done to you?)

Fire me of course! I don’t care what you do to me for speaking for youth rights (this was not mute : mind you) and tell me where have I violated any terms of my employment contract? Show me one?

e- This means you are not even aware of channel’s interest?

Me: but I am pretty aware of what has been written in my contract letter SIR

e- bebe hum ko kal he pata chal gaya tha k app kitni bold hai … ( we have realized how ‘bold’ you are yesterday

Me: I am not coward sir …. I spoke what I felt was right

I said and left the room, I was too annoyed, depressed and mad, next day things were okay , I was told that  issue was only raised to set  an EXAMPLE  for  other employees , and they should be careful about going to other channel’s office . Very same day I had been officially promoted as head of jago documentaries …. Dahhh

But the question is has the issue resolved????

This is a topic to discuss for the entire office for days! You know what she had been discussing “SEXUALITY” on TV … OMG

Girli ! We are impressed, it’s too courageous of you …to BOLD of you

No matter how frequently I told them that this is normal and normal than any other crappy political talk show: S

We are the journalists claiming to divulge realities every day, it’s our responsibility to speak and inform and educate. We feel proud to screen out the hidden scandals and exclusives. But why we are scared to face the truth we are born with? Why are we so ashamed of our bodies and essentials associated with it?

Still striving for answers.
